5 PIN BOWLING

Here is an interesting fact. Five-pin bowling is played only in Canada. It was devised around 1909 by Thomas F.Ryan in Toronto, at his Toronto Bowling Club, in response to customers who complained that the ten-pin game was too strenuous.

He cut five tenpins down to about 75% of their size, and used hand-sized hard rubber balls, thus inventing the original version of five-pin bowling.  5 pin bowling is a very popular sport with Special Olympics Burlington and it is also one of our longest running sports.

Come and join the Thunderbirds and have fun with a truly Canadian sport. The Thunderbirds participate in several tournaments each season, as well as their weekly games at Roseland Bowl.
